Dr. Darrin E. Nichols Receives 2025 Outstanding Advocacy Award
The West Virginia Academy of Family Physicians (WVAFP) is proud to announce that Darrin E. Nichols, MD, FAAFP, President-Elect of the WVAFP, has been honored with the 2025 Outstanding Advocacy Award by the West Virginia Primary Care Association (WVPCA). Dr. Nichols serves as Chief Medical Officer for Coplin Health Systems.
The award was presented during the WVPCA’s Annual Community Health Center (CHC) Leadership Forum, held September 8–10, 2025, at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, West Virginia. This prestigious recognition highlights Dr. Nichols’ tireless work in advocating for family medicine, primary care, and the communities served throughout the state.

As President-Elect of the WVAFP, Dr. Nichols continues to bring his vision, passion, and advocacy to the forefront of primary care in West Virginia. His recognition by the WVPCA underscores the importance of collaboration among organizations to advance the health and well-being of the state’s communities.
