Constitution & Bylaws Committee:
Chaired by David Avery, MD. This committee is responsible for all WVAFP Bylaw Changes.
Legislation & Government Affairs:
Chaired by David Avery, MD; this committee oversees all legislative activities, monitors federal and state legislation, and recommends action to the Board to assure adequate representation of family physicians, family medicine residents and medical student. Members receive copies of Thom Stevens legislative highlights newsletter.
Publication Committee:
Chaired by Lester Labus, MD; this committee is responsible for the contents of the publication “Family Doc”. The “Family Doc” is a great resource of information to keep WVAFP members updated on current issues that relate to family practice.
Resident Directors Committee:
Chaired by Stephen Petrany, MD; this committee is responsible for the WVAFP most valuable asset – THE FUTURE OF FAMILY PRACTICE IN WEST VIRGINIA, our current residents.
Sports Medicine Committee:
Chaired by Greg Elkins, MD; this committee keeps Family Medicine informed and involved in the latest trends and activities related to sports medicine.
“Doc For A Day” Program:
This program is our premier legislative initiative that has been our vehicle to promote the positive aspects of Family Medicine during the annual legislative sessions. If you volunteer for this program in 2007 you will receive 2 hours CME credit and mailings of Thom Stevens’ legislative highlights newsletter.
